CHEAP JAPANESE GUITARS FROM THE 60s & 70s

I love these vintage Japanese guitars from the 60s and early 70s!
I love these vintage Japanese guitars from the 60s and early 70s!

I love these guitars!

In case they don`t have a name

they are called "Teisco" on Ebay.

Most of them are unplayable, but they are beautiful and original because they were built before the Japanese started to build exact copies of American guitars.

They all have smaller bodies than American guitars, very often very thin ones made of playwood but with beautiful veneers on top and on the back

and nice 3-tone "German" sunburst

(the German flag is black, red, yellow ... Germans say that the yellow is gold,

but that`s something only Germans can see).

These Japanese beauties always have real fat necks, often made from beautiful woods.

I think they could be easily transormed into something that works pretty well.

...if you replace pretty much everything else...

Chrome metal pickguard like a mirror. Fat mahogany neck, very solid whammy. Nice!!! Tuners suck.

Typical for these MIJ guitars: The "STEEL REINFORCED NECK". A straight steel rod is a truss rod that does not work well. Can`t be adjusted. But beautiful wood! Click to enlarge.

The Ricky-style bridge is not original. Proper intonation does not work on thick E-string ... due to wrong nut placement, I guess
